Women in the workforce: challenges and opportunities ahead

June 2, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

They say a woman’s work is never done, which holds true even today. Statistics indicate that women worldwide continue to do a disproportionate amount of unpaid domestic labour. This, along with the competitive environment of the corporate world, has left women with a unique set of gender-specific challenges. The United Nations states that in 2019, only 28% of managerial positions were held by women. In India, the heightened need for work-life balance, discriminatory work cultures and the slow battle against oppressive societal norms have all contributed to the gender gap in the labour force. So, in this webinar, we dive into women’s biggest issues in any workforce. We discuss the current policies and potential solutions through the following questions:
• What policy changes can the government make to prioritise employee work-life balance across the country?
• Can we use the current success of WFH culture to create a blended work schedule to help female employees?
• Is the central government’s reservation policy a valuable tool for shattering the glass ceiling in India?
• How can we address the gender pay gap in India?
• What changes do we need to the current harassment policy standards to affect real change?
• What is a microaggression, and how can we sensitise employees against it?
• How can equal parental leave for both men and women reduce the burden of childcare on female employees?
• Can we harness our artisanal history and skill training to improve the proportion of gainfully employed women in India?
